I have a confession to make. I have fallen off the wagon! I used to be really good about taking in lots of water. I had a reusable water bottle in hand most of the time and diligently took in a couple litres a day...minimum! Being pregnant, then nursing, I was even more diligent. But as I said, I have fallen off the wagon. I seem to get near the end of the day as I reach for a soothing cup of tea, and realize how little I have consumed. Sometimes I find myself standing at the tap at the end of the day desperately trying to down a few glasses!!! Ridiculous!
Its not shocking that my body is reminding me of my neglect! I feel myself slowing down and my body tiring of fighting the toxins that are not being washed out. I am thirsty (little side note, if you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated!) and generally off. Funny too, because hydration is one of the topics I speak about with a fair bit of passion (read: nothing good happens in your body in the absence of hydration!!!). So many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated just by consuming enough water!
“Water is life's mater and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.” Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
So this is my big goal for myself for January; to re-hydrate. My plan is to ensure I get the first litre in me before noon. Water is classified as an essential nutrient, and I know how indispensable it is to the body's health...how have I expected my body to perform without nourishing it with what it needs most?!?
And by the way, there is a lot of room for others to join me back on that wagon!
